YapTalk has partnered with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.multivu.com\/players\/English\/8054351-hills-pet-nutrition-national-animal-disaster-preparedness-day-nadpd\/\"> Hill&#8217;s Nutrition<\/a>\u00a0and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spca.org\/\">SPCA of Texas<\/a>,\u00a0to raise awareness on this important topic.\u00a0Let&#8217;s discuss the topic of evacuating your home with your pet.<\/p>\n<p>If you evacuate your home, <strong>DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS BEHIND!<\/strong> Pets most likely cannot survive on their own; and if by some remote chance they do, you may not be able to find them when you return. An easy way to get started is to create your own Pet Emergency Go-Kit with supplies, food and water in the event that you and your pet need to leave your home.<\/p>\n<p>The good folks at SPCA of Dallas also recommend making the following preparations<strong>\u00a0BEFORE<\/strong> an emergency evacuation:<\/p>\n<div class=\"_n_n3\">\n<div class=\"conductorContent\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div id=\"primaryContainer\" class=\"_n_e\">\n<div class=\"conductorContent\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"_n_T\">\n<div class=\"_n_X\">\n<div class=\"_n_X\">\n<div class=\"_n_X\">\n<div class=\"_n_Y\">\n<div class=\"allowTextSelection\">\n<div class=\"conductorContent\">\n<div class=\"_rp_f\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"_rp_f allowTextSelection\">\n<div class=\"_rp_g allowTextSelection scrollContainer\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div tabindex=\"0\">\n<div class=\"_rp_85\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"_rp_K4 ms-border-color-neutralLight ShowReferenceAttachmentsLinks ShowConsesusSchedulingLink\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<div class=\"_rp_X4\">\n<div id=\"Item.MessagePartBody\" class=\"_rp_M4\">\n<div id=\"Item.MessageUniqueBody\" class=\"_rp_N4 ms-font-weight-regular ms-font-color-neutralDark rpHighlightAllClass rpHighlightBodyClass\" tabindex=\"0\">\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure your dog is wearing a collar with an ID tag that includes a contact name, current phone number and address. If you and your dog get separated, proper ID will be the best and fastest way to ensure you can be reunited. Check dog\u2019s collar regularly to ensure that it fits properly and will not slip over their head.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Note: Additionally, make sure your pet is micro-chipped, and confirm that your contact information is registered correctly with the microchip company. If your pet loses their collar with ID tag, a microchip will allow you to be contacted once they are found.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep a travel crate stored in an easily accessible area so that you can safely transport your pet in an emergency. Acclimating your pet to the crate will help the process go smoothly when you are in a hurry.
